QI Tech is the first SCD licensed by the Brazilian Central Bank

QI Tech received authorization from the Brazilian Central Bank (Banco Central do Brasil) to operate as a Sociedade de Crédito Direto (SCD), becoming the first company to obtain this license in the country. The approval marks the company’s official entry into Brazil’s regulated financial system and establishes its model as a fully digital financial institution authorized to extend credit using its own capital.

What is a Sociedade de Crédito Direto

The SCD is a financial institution category created by the Brazilian Central Bank through Resolution No. 4.656/2018. It allows technology companies to operate in the credit market without taking deposits from the public, using proprietary capital or issuing instruments such as receivables certificates. The framework was designed to foster competition in the financial sector and broaden access to credit across Brazil.

QI Tech in the regulated financial system

The authorization granted by the Brazilian Central Bank positions QI Tech as a pioneer in the first generation of regulated credit fintechs in Brazil. The company, already established as a financial technology provider, began operating with the full institutional backing required to offer credit products in compliance with Brazilian regulatory standards.

The SCD license reinforces QI Tech’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and innovation within the framework set by Brazil’s financial regulator.
